Four Mens Wedding Fashion Trends for the Next Year

These four looks will have the men in your bridal party looking stylish and classy!

Does your man dress well? Or is he a straight forward jeans and t shirt guy? Shopping for a wedding dress and bridesmaids dresses is already a ton of work and if you also have to do the outfit planning for all the groomsmen, you’ll definitely have your hands full with fashion decisions.

Not to worry though! As a photographer who spent some of my early career as a fashion photographer, I’m here to help provide insight as to 4 mens wedding fashion trends you’ll see over the next year. I’ve created an inspiration board on Pinterest that has examples of each of the 4 trends below, so if you’re not sure what direction to go with for the men in your bridal party, hopefully these will give you some ideas to go off of!

Traditional Weddings

If you didn’t know, each year Pantone announces a color of the year. Each year this color is used in fashion, advertising, and more. As a consumer you probably wouldn’t pick up on it, but I promise you, it’s EVERYWHERE!

This year’s color is Classic Blue and yes, you guessed it, it’s pretty much navy blue. Over the course of the next year get ready to see a lot of navy navy blue suits, bridesmaids dress, ties, and pocket squares. My guess is that mainly we will be seeing the groom and groomsmen wearing blue suits and brown shoes. The navy blue suit option is sure to be a timeless and classy look for a more traditional wedding.

Rustic Weddings

For a more fashionable approach to rustic wedding, I suggest looking into vintage or tweed suits for the men in the bridal party. The texture and earthy tones of these suits will match the ruggedness of a rustic wedding perfectly. It’s easy to make this look classic or casual depending how it’s worn. A 3 piece tweed suit is extremely dapper and would work well with a barn or country church wedding. Alternatively, going with a tweed vest and opting for rolled up sleeves can make the look more casual for an outdoor rustic wedding.

Boho and Elopement

Boho weddings and elopements are usually synonymous with alternative styling to a traditional wedding. Couples typically have more freedom to dress how they'd like and they generally have a more casual feel to them. However, the option I’m going to suggest is still dressy. Jewel tones are really big right now in weddings. My suggestion for elopements and boho weddings is emerald suit jackets and cropped dress pants.

Emerald is a dark, rich color that will photograph beautifully outdoors in the woods, plains, mountains, or wherever your destination might be. Cropped suit and dress pants are really in style now, and will give a traditional suit look a more casual feel. Cropped pants also allow for the men to wear fun socks for everyone to see, or they can go with no show socks and loafers for a more modern look.

Casual Weddings

For a more casual wedding that may be taking place outdoors or at a non-traditional location like a park, vest or suspenders with rolled sleeves will keep the men cool while still looking sharp! Slim suspenders and leather suspenders are super in right now and they can top off the look with a bow tie for a fun alternative to a traditional tie. This look has a throwback vibe to it, and it could be pulled off for a rustic wedding as well!
